As a non-profit agency, Collierville Literacy Council does not charge for services, and provides all materials to our students and tutors.
|
|
|
| The United Way of the Mid-South recognizes the value of CLC’s services in Eastern Shelby County, West Fayette County and Northeast Marshall County, and includes us as a member agency. However, our United Way allocation, while substantial, is still less than 50% of our operating budget. | |
|
The Town of Collierville generously supplies our office space and a portion of our utilities. If able, many of our past and present students help support the efforts of CLC.
The remainder of our budget must come from individuals and businesses in our community and surrounding areas. .

The Services we provide include:
~ Training Volunteer Tutors (who logged over 8,600 total hrs last year)
~ Providing tutoring sevices to Adults who are seeking to test for their GED (125 students in the past 2 years)
~ Providing Adult Basic Education / Literacy tutoring for low-level and non-readers.
~ Teaching English as a Learned Language classes for individuals in our community who do not speak English or who wish to learn additional English.
The cost for the various materials needed to supply approximately 400 students and 80 to 90 tutors during the year, as well as our ongoing need for office supplies and utilities, grows every year.

Your tax-deductible gift can help us in the following ways:
- $25 donation: will purchase initial materials for a GED student
- $50 donation: will train a new volunteer tutor
- $100 donation: will buy materials for a student/tutor pair for one year
- $300 donation: will cover the average total cost for preparing a student for a GED diploma
- $500 donation: provides a 2 day tutor-training workshop for 8 volunteers
- $1000 donation: will cover the cost of educational materials for all active students & tutors for one month
